Reggaeton was born in the early 90s in Puerto Rico, but it has its roots in the hot rhythms of the Caribbean and the energy of Latin American urban culture. It combines influences from Jamaican reggae, dancehall, American hip hop and traditional Latin dances such as salsa and merengue. Initially known as “reggae”, this genre has conquered the world since 2004, becoming a true global phenomenon.
